For research use only · Not for human consumption
This material is reference information for laboratory study of research peptides. It is not medical advice and it is not instructions for human use, self-administration, or therapeutic application. Capital Precision Labs supplies research chemicals for in-vitro and animal-model study only. Discuss any health-related questions with a licensed medical practitioner.
Important: Regulatory status is complex, jurisdiction-specific, and changes frequently. Always verify current status with the regulator, and get legal advice for your specific situation. Nothing here is legal advice.
1FDA status (USA)
The FDA classifies substances in several ways relevant to peptides:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| FDA-approved drug | Completed the approval process for specific indication(s). |
| IND (Investigational New Drug) | In clinical trials under FDA oversight. Not yet approved. |
| Bulk active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) | A substance that may be used by licensed pharmacies only under specific conditions. |
| No FDA approval | Has not been approved by the FDA for any use. |
FDA status relates to the United States and does not govern Australian regulation.
2TGA status (Australia)
The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) regulates therapeutic goods in Australia:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| ARTG-listed prescription medicine | Approved for specific uses and available only on prescription. |
| Schedule 4 (Prescription Only) | Requires a doctor's prescription. |
| Schedule 8 (Controlled Drug) | Strict prescribing and dispensing controls. |
| Unapproved | Not on the ARTG and not approved for therapeutic use. Unapproved goods must not be advertised or supplied as medicines. |
Note: Whether a particular compound is scheduled, and what that means for buying, holding or importing it, depends on the compound and on state and territory law. Check with the TGA or a legal adviser before you rely on any status.
3WADA prohibited list
The World Anti-Doping Agency maintains the Prohibited List (updated annually). WADA status is relevant only for competitive athletes subject to anti-doping rules.
Always check the current list at wada-ama.org rather than relying on secondhand information. It changes annually and mid-year updates occur.
4Research use designation
The “Research Use Only — Not for Human Consumption” label means a product is supplied as a laboratory research chemical and is not a therapeutic good. See what “research use only” means for what that does and doesn't cover.
